Write what I am going to write a little bit weighs on me. I weigh because I believed it, this thing that information technology would bring freedom and participation. When as a sixteen year old would sit together with others, in the 80s, hacking away with our Amiga 1000, or Atari (yes, it was computers), we thought of a world where the “telematics” (at the time, the first BBS) would improve the world.
There were many reasons why we believed this, the first of which in the world of BBS were not involved ISPs, so there were no intermediaries between the BBS and its user.
