The mountain of shit theory

When a left-wing newspaper has a sovereign master.

When a left-wing newspaper has a sovereign master.

If I asked you to tell me what political tendencies "the Italian triad of newspapers" has, that is the tremendous journalistic concentration La Stampa-Repubblica-Corriere, you would probably reply that more or less, in their own way, they are "center "Or" center-left ". But if I asked you how their master, that is the Elkann family, thinks, you might have some surprises, because their address oscillates between Lega and Meloni, with some sympathy for the extreme fringes of M5S.

An example is found in Repubblica, which relaunches an article from Russia Today, starring a certain Manon Aubry, using the classic title Clickbait .

First of all, we note that Miss Manon Aubry is already a regular of Russia Today: here we see her arguing that giving "dirty macaroni" to an Italian is NOT racism because only insulting a Muslim is racism.

She is therefore an assiduous frequenter of the sovereign press and also as a character she is the girl from ClickBait: here you can see her opposing Mario Draghi , and here where she complains because Macron tries to isolate Islamic religious extremism .

This is a character who is much loved by the sovereign press and pro-Russian disinformation newspapers, especially since he clarified his Eurosceptic position by lashing out against the Treaty of Lisbon.

But the problem is not Aubry's opinions, but the propaganda technique:

  • "The parliamentarian who nails Van der Layen", as well as "Aubry Destroys Ursula", and company, are clearly clickbait titles
  • as in the tradition of the Russian propaganda press, the opponent's response is never published, to give the impression that she was left speechless, or to give the speech a definitive tone of sentence.

The question is: why do newspapers that consider themselves to be center or left host the worst of pro-Russian sovereign propaganda, when if anything shoot as "insulting an Italian is not racism" should be condemned?

The answer is simple: those three newspapers find themselves working for a boss who is anti-European, that is, pro-Russian and pro-populist.

Consequently, whether they like it or not, they are forced by the master's voice to post certain things, and the fact that this request does not show sensitivity towards a person who considers it legitimate to say "dirty macaroni" to an Italian (which presumably would produce a little reaction sympathy), he tells me that the owner is not Italian, does not live in Italy or does not feel very involved in Italy.

So in the end what we are about to see is an Italian press that to please the left-wing reader writes things from the left or from the center, but every now and then we get a shitty asshole.

In short, "center-left press" is the new "ham and shit sandwich".
