Alla fijlkam: who taught Shime Waza to a mentally ill person?

While scrolling through the Sunday news (it's raining here) I came across the complete video of the killing of the poor Nigerian peddler (Alika Ogorchukwu) by Filippo Ferlazzo. I speak of "complete" in the sense that you can see what happens and there are no blurred circles for censorship. I got a little pissed off.

Dear fijlkam gentlemen, I have been practicing Judo since I was 6/7 years old. Which means, nowadays, it's about 45 years old. I left the country as a Filpj member and today I am a DJB member, the Deutsches Judo Bund. I am saying this to make you understand how much Judo is part of me. It was even a point of integration here in Germany. I feel at home in a Judo club.

I happened to watch a video where a person uses a Shime Waza to kill for no reason. And if you spend 45 years studying Kanō Jigorō's values, you end up thinking that they are important.

You know very well that we don't teach Shime Waza to children. Only a fool would put a child in a position to kill, knowing how to do it. You know well that, by regulation, all the techniques we teach, and all the Kyu, are built in such a way as not to give children the opportunity to know how to do harm. The kyu are sorted by age, after all.

This has so far made Judo the safest martial art for children.

But when you look at that video, you too see what I see. Shime Waza, and other techniques. I see an attempt by Juji Gatame, and I see a setting that is not Jujitzu. That's Judo.

And the killer isn't even that rusty. Sure, the victim had a crutch, but in the randori on the ground it is not so relevant: you can see that the victim lifted and overturned his attacker by sacrificing a side, and did not even know how to do it. It was strong. The Nigerian was physically VERY strong.

But you can see how it suffocates him. You see well that he knows Shime Waza. And you also see he's not someone who practiced 20 years ago, he's fresh out of the gym.

And so I ask you the question: who teaches such techniques to an individual with those mental problems? Which teacher? It is allowed?

I know well, we know well, with what excuses it can be justified. The first is that strangulation is only successful if you have the Judo robe, the Judoji. But we know that this is not the case. When we teach, we always show that "the force of two fingers is enough to remove the air". Index and thumb. A shirt collar is enough, you know it and I know it. You don't need Judoji to strangle someone: when you know how to do it, you know how to do it. And you know well that it is the wrist that closes the jugularies, not the judoji collar. And then there are the "naked" strangulation techniques, the Hadaka Jime: the opponent definitely does not need to wear Judoji. I don't have to teach you.

On the other hand, we know that to strangle without Judoji it is necessary to have understood the Kata 'behind the technique, the forms behind the technique. The kata 'of shime waza? What belt did the mentally ill have? Brown? Black?

And why in my club, according to German federal if not global rules, we can't give these belts to a 15-year-old girl who could possibly be molested, while in Italy a mentally ill, borderline, violent and prejudiced is being trained?

There is a teacher who must be punished.

And if it's not the master's fault, there are rules to change or improve. For the sake of Judo.

Shime-waza are no secret. You can now also find them on youtube. It is the training that is missing. But anyone, looking at the video on youtube, and comparing it with that of the killing of Alika Ogorchukwu, many can get there. It is definitely Judo, and when the Nigerian manages to rotate by sacrificing his hip, we see an almost immediate attempt by Ushiro-Jime, another strangling technique that can even be done without a Judoji.

But let's see how the killer controls the victim using the weight, and that's Judo,

and we see that the strangling arm is on the other side of the neck, and this is Judo for sure.

So, I ask the federation to find the judo master of this person who was NOT supposed to be accepted in a gym, who should have sought medical insurance advice but did not ask, and to punish him.

Shime vaza is not taught to people with mental problems. Nor to the kids. And if it comes to people with mental problems and corpulent, less than less.

If this happens regularly, sooner or later someone will notice what martial art is behind it, and we will all end up having the same reputation as those who do MMA: useless testosteronic monkeys, without self-control, with so much desire to lead hands and no sense of humanity.

The opposite of what Kanō Jigorō wanted.

Please find that teacher and punish him. Or, if it really isn't the master's fault, then change the rules. We know that Judo will never go to Hollywood, and therefore it will never be attractive to certain elements . Which, in my opinion, is good.

But we also know that Shime Waza are dangerous. And so we can't just count on not being liked by Hollywood.
