Donnite and Theranos.
The last post on the LHC has, I see, made many want to accuse me of misogyny (misogynist cards are now given so easily that my cherry tree has one too, in the garden), because obviously if someone talks evil of the LHC , while it is directed by a woman ™, then it has it for her "as a woman".
The problem with this womanism is that it has harmful effects, and it doesn't necessarily mean that it helps women either. I therefore take this opportunity to point out the effects of the Woke culture on the “silicon valley”, by telling what happened to Theranos.
So, Theranos was born as a scam. A 19-year-old lady, this Elizabeth Holmes, decides that it is possible to create a "minilab", that is a series of portable sensors capable of making a perfect and complete blood test, capable of "self-diagnosing" the need to take a given medicine any. Something like the electronic blood sugar meter that diabetics use. But for almost all pathologies that require prescription drugs. Since doctors cost money in the US, the product immediately aroused interest.

Now, the whole thing was a fraud, but it was a BIG fraud. What does it mean? It means that Theranos sold shares for about 700 million dollars to various Venture Capital, but it came to be valued at 10 BILLION dollars.
What does it mean? It means that if you buy 1% of a company for ten dollars, the company is worth 1000 for the stock exchange. But the question is: who puts the other 990 in it? The idiots who think they are investing for a company that according to the stock exchange is worth 1000 dollars because it has collected ten for 1% of the shares.
The idiots were ordinary people who, as with Parmalat, bought the shares. And that they found themselves ruined.
Now, it won't be the first time this has happened and I put Parmalat in it for this: and it seems clear to me that Calisto Tanzi was a boy.
But the problem is precisely this: when Calisto Tanzi was put on the grill for the bang he had made, no one defended him by saying "you are angry with him because he is a boy".
Holmes hardly ever gave feminist speeches: you have to be honest. But EVERYONE who talked about her did (and still does) them.
And let's be clear about one thing: she was sentenced for some of the charges – not all – to a MUCH lighter sentence than the average one imposed on male defendants (without anyone having pointed this out).
But the problem was the role that this type of sycophants (there were even men among them, see Jared Leto) protected Holmes the whole time. He could afford to do things that no male, including some very crooks, has ever been able to do.

- there were no scientific publications on the effectiveness of his technique
- the product itself didn't exist, you couldn't buy it anywhere, no one had ever really seen it.
But if you dared to say these things, you were immediately lynched by a crowd of sycophants, who shouted only one thing:
"You're mad at her because she's a young ™ woman ™".
and let's be clear, this mantra influenced ALL public opinion, up to the paroxysm of Woke culture. Not even on television has anyone EVER had the courage to confront her with an expert who would ask her "technical" questions. He always spoke without contradiction, with journalists who did not understand much.
To be honest, this is a scam that usually works in Silicon Valley. It is called "fake it until you do it": in practice, since Venture Capital believes you if you only show it "something", but not "everything", startups often do NOT have a product but limit themselves to having a fake .
Since they have chosen a product that is all in all feasible, they know that once they have the money to make it, they will make it. So they cheat the VC, but only at the beginning. For example: in Berlin, during a startup audition, a young lady said she wanted to make a range of make-up that didn't fear sweat, so that it could also be worn by those who sweat at work, or in the gym.
They didn't have any product, but to make the demo they used such persistent Shisheido (like those of the synchronized swimming teams, to understand) and the model even put her face in a bucket of water, and took a fake shower, to show that when make-up came out it was there. Once they got the funding, they called in chemists, did their draft of Shisheido, and off we go.
The real problem with this young lady is that she had chosen an unachievable goal. And therefore, even if they had covered it in billions, it could not have made it happen.
But here the problem was clear: until she fell out of favor, Holmes was literally ABOVE ALL CRITICISM as a woman ™.
And here we come back to the problem of the LHC. Certainly Fabiola Gianotti is not an equivalent (or an analogue) of Holmes and she knows what she is saying. There is no doubt. And she is not the problem either, since I didn't even mention her in the previous post. What I have done is to point out that in the world of particle physics there are some quite questionable practices, and that both the request for a 100Km accelerator, and the construction of the LHC itself, so far have not really paid off the investments in terms of discoveries. relevant in a given range of energies.
But the practice "fake it till you make it" begins to be a pattern. The trouble is that it is a pattern that is not financed by venture capital, but with public money.

So no, I don't have it with LHC because the director is a woman: as you heard in the video, she is in very good male company.
But the fact remains: LHC is a scientific failure , because not only has it not proven anything, it has not ruled out anything either, since now they are asking for even more money for the sole purpose of finding out if by chance their formulas are not right, to another level of energy. And when I say "by accident", I mean they are groping.
