Science and millennialisms
I am having (and you are having it too) the privilege of seeing the birth of another pata-scientific Hoax, in the style of "cow farts warming up the planet". This time, however, it is mineral waters.
Now, this is clearly a lie: such a thing not only ignores numbers, but also ignores the concept of "order of magnitude".
- the extracted water has returned to the oceans, and it's a microscopic amount.
- water is a very small part of the total mass of the planet, which is five times denser than water. if it were a meter-wide ball of marble, it would be just a thin layer of moisture on the surface.

There is no doubt that it is a lie, but you will see that by dint of shouting it, everyone will believe it. And instead of water they will propose the piss of the rich.
Obviously, this also tells us that the peer review mechanism has failed, especially where research funds come from private individuals, and it is considered an offense to honor to publish a negative peer review.
After all, the flow of shit is constantly growing, in an attempt to bring terror to the fools.
But the real question is "how come these hoaxes spread so easily". Aside from the fact that the average journalist is a phocomelic cephalopithecus, I mean. (whatever a cephalopithecus is).
To understand this, we must look at the history of scientific alarms (plagues, famines, epuidemies, freezing winters, etc), and distinguish two categories.
- the millennialisms.
- actual scientific alarms.
let's be clear, millennialism can be based on a real event: the lunar eclipse exists, but millennialism is thinking that it is a sign of the apocalypse. It is not essential that the alarm be false for a millennialism to be created. It just needs to be communicated to the population in a specific way.
So what is the watershed between millennialisms and scientifically based alarms?
- in scientifically based alarms, the ruling classes are the first to act, they take control of the situation and apply the measures (true or wrong) to the entire population, including the Elites, on the contrary: often the Elites are the first to be involved: when the Plague arrived in Florence, the first institute of public hygiene was immediately founded, and the rich were advised to spend the summer in villas in the countryside.
- in millennial-type alarms, one element always comes into play, or rather two: sin and penance. If tragedy strikes, it is the fault of the people's sins, never of the elites, and the people must take charge, at their own expense, of money and painful penance, to put things right.
Ecological alarms are always, or almost always, from the millennial family. I give some examples:
- Waste. “every family produces tons of waste”. So it's up to sinners to take charge of differentiating waste, of separating it, and then with their taxes to manage its disposal. The packaging industries continue to operate calmly: if the plastic bottle of coca ends up in the sea, in fact, it is not Coca Cola that has to remove it, even if it produced it. We are the ones who "produced the waste": evidently you have mini-packaging factories at home. But the sinner is always the people, and it is the people that must severely repent.
- So Aramco goes public at stellar figures, but we have to change cars for an electric one because CO2 is the fault of those who drive. Penitentiate! The fault cannot be of those who have produced fossil energy cars (the only ones on the market), it cannot be of those who have not developed public transport, but evidently it is of the sinners who enjoy spending an hour in traffic every morning to go to work. So repent, sinners, and shell out money for the electric car: Aramco, Shell, Agip, but also Toyota, General Motors, Renault & co, they are not to blame.
- CO2 is a problem. This is why we will force everyone to install heat pumps, but let it be clear: the cement industry, whose solidification produces Co2 in quantities perhaps higher than those of cars, cannot be touched. We will never touch all those private boats, with displacements ranging from 10,000cc to 35,000cc, strictly diesel, and we will not hear of giving up on private jets and flying in general. But no: the fault certainly lies with the people, who want to sleep in the heat. Never the rich guy who wants a truckload of bitches on the yacht.
For this reason I speak of "millennial" alarms as opposed to "scientifically based" alarms. I wrote "founded" because in the case of scientifically based alarms, scientists not only identify the problem and the causes, but also the solutions.
In millennial alarms, scientists identify the problem and the causes, but when it comes to solutions and priorities, they leave it to the Elites.
If global warming were a scientifically based alarm, scientists would have pointed this out to us:

As in all millennialisms, the fault lies with the sins of the people, not the rich:
- We need to change all the movers, but not the means of transport of the rich (planes and yachts).
- We must stop eating meat, but not avocado. The avocado comes from 3000km away. The food of the rich is fine, that of the poor is not.
- We need to stop heating houses, but woe to you if you stop making them with cement, which produces more CO2.

this imbalance of costs on the poor is another of the things that make me say "millennialism": if the thing were scientifically founded, that is, if scientists were also left to decide on priorities, we would have already stopped air transport, before producing electric cars, we would have already stopped using cement for construction, we would have already started building geothermal plants, we would have already started work to protect cities from water, and many other things.
But global warming is a millennialism.
