The mountain of shit theory

BergamoCovid

An (in my opinion) dutiful investigation into the period of the covid near Bergamo is making politics scream hysterically, to the point that the best Christian Democrats of each party are trying to convince the public that an investigation is "no use", and that " rather it will be necessary to discuss investing in healthcare” (cited by Calenda).

But the problem is that some areas have been affected more than others, some decisions and some management have proved to be more effective in terms of deaths per million, and the fact that a virus spread across the globe has mortality rates different between Italian regions requires, in my opinion, an investigation.

Then if it is established that nothing bad has happened then it will be closed, but at least there will be someone who says "the politicians have done their duty fully and well". Or not.

The fact is that the management of the pandemic in Italy, having been delegated to the regions, was political in the sense that decisions were made for fear of displeasing the local electorate.

Especially entrepreneurs. Who have proven to be pigs without a conscience, in numerous examples. The ones I remember were:

  • Yes to telecommuting, but only for managers.
  • Textile companies that said they started making masks, announcing the arrival of millions of masks, while continuing to produce lingerie, and never delivered any masks.
  • Car companies that said they would produce respirators, announcing that they would produce a large number of them, but they made cars and their respirators were never seen.
  • Confindustria representatives who said that the turnover could not be risked just to save the lives of the workers.
  • Newspapers, such as Il Corriere, which featured articles such as "saving lives is fine, but not at any cost".
  • Regional presidents who, with appreciable timing, seized the opportunity of a pandemic to play "Terroni against polentoni", like De Luca.
  • Places where the infected with Covid were moved to nursing homes for the elderly. Which would have caused a massacre even if Covid had been a normal flu.
  • Regions that still had beds refuse patients from other Italian regions.
  • Lega supporters who went to get vaccinated with sputnki V, without waiting for science to pronounce, with the result of ′′ vaccinating ′′ themselves with a vaccine that NEVER worked.

In these conditions of moral and human misery, it is clearly necessary to ask who decided what, and it is necessary to clarify. On the other hand, as you can see, there were so many miserable behaviors that the investigations could expand dramatically.

Calenda, as a good Christian Democrat, insists that lessons should be learned and go ahead with more money. Interesting how you say "learn a lesson" but you don't say "WHAT" lesson.

Because the first lesson of Covid in Italy is that it is a mistake to leave healthcare in the hands of the regions, and that it should be re-centralised.

I have to mention different results in different regions, I have to mention De Luca playing terroni against polentoni, I have to mention the Lombard management of the pandemic, I have to mention the non-residents who return to Sicily and the region, despite being an island, does not stop its 'arrive not to annoy the voters of the place? Do I need to mention the Italians sent to German hospitals even though there were vacancies in other regions?

All good reasons to understand the lesson, the first lesson, which is that health care should not be regionalized.

Or maybe Calenda shouldn't talk about “lessons learned” anymore, given that in the end the topic is “hot”.

Now that this investigation has started, obviously everyone will try to make a fuss to hide the most filthy crap they've done. I read that one of the leading pandemic mathematics experts was asked to make predictions, and that he had taken us from the beginning. But the decisions taken by the government and the regions DO NOT reflect this vision.

The same report, moreover, remained secret throughout the pandemic. They say it was not to scare the population, but one wonders if the photos of the military trucks full of coffins reassured anyone.

The truth is that the culprits, or at least those who feel guilty, will try to throw her in the caciara. And I can already see the no / vax fanatics (although vaccines are not under discussion in the investigation) filling the newspaper comments, hoping to raise a fuss in the face of the investigation.

But the problem doesn't lie in vaccines, which didn't exist yet at the time: the problem lies in four thousand deaths, and in families waiting to know if the same thing would have happened with a different government.

At the time of Covid I was quite skeptical about the regionalized response to the virus, also because I saw that in a condition of even greater federalism, Merkel banged her fists on the table to bring her own regions to coordinate and work together.

On the contrary, in Italy the government delegated to the regions as much as possible, and never set up a permanent organ of coordination for the regions. It is true that Teams and the good will of the governors would have been enough to hold one meeting a day for coordination and updating, but if the children behave as such, it is the adults who must bring order.

In the face of anything that requires competence and activity, the Italian government always does two things: first, it accuses Europe of not doing enough, if it fails, then it spreads the problem to some local authority, and at the very least, it will then accuse them of to have failed.

It is therefore very important and right that somewhere in the province, in those regions left to themselves and blamed, an investigation should be born aimed at establishing the truth. Because we need to pay attention to one thing: MAYBE the investigation will condemn the Lombard leaders, but we must also understand that if the Lombard leaders were able to emerge innocent, they would do so by demonstrating that it was the government that badly organized the response.

In general, whatever the Christian Democrats say, an investigation is necessary. However it ends. Because 4000 dead are STILL the subject of a dutiful investigation.

The results, you have to wait for them.
